CHANGING HANDS

After 24 months of operations in Ukraine, making food for internally displaced people (IDPs) and isolated communities in some of Ukraine’s hardest hit areas, Scottish charity SIOBHAN’S TRUST is passing over it’s Ukraine activities to a newly established charity called HOPEFULL (www.hopefull.org.uk).

Siobhan’s Trust will continue running an overseas Rapid Reaction operation. It will continue to respond to humanitarian catastrophes, such as the war in Ukraine and the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria of February 2023, where the charity was able to deliver 500,000 hot meals to the disaster-struck community around the city of Antakya.

The charity will also continue its original mission of supporting young people in Scotland, with a principle focus on the city of Dundee, registered as Siobhan Dundee Trust.

WHAT HAVE WE BEEN DOING?

During the past 2 years, millions of pizzas, hot drinks and other forms of aid, such as truck loads of water-purification tablets, hygiene products and warm clothes have been directly distributed to struggling communities in Ukraine.

The trustees of SIOBHANS TRUST take this opportunity to thank the MANY HUNDREDS OF VOLUNTEERS and the MANY THOUSANDS OF DONORS who have contributed to this outstanding effort of which we are all tremendously proud. We also wish to acknowledge the extraordinary work done by our team on the ground: Volodomyr Proskura, Oleksandr Kryvtsun, Nina Yevtushenko, Kevin Fisher, Audrey McAlpine and their amazing leader, Tom Hughes.  The whole team will continue their work under the Hopefull banner.

The infrastructure in Ukraine, including equipment, personnel, and cash reserves donated for Ukraine, has been passed over to Hopefull.  Two of the charity’s trustees, Chris Macintosh and David Fox-Pitt, who have led the Ukraine operation since February 2022, head up Hopefull’s board of trustees and will continue to run the operation. We wish them well and encourage you to continue to support them.

A HUGE THANK YOU!
